CNR-Bioinformatics
The CNR-Bioinformatics project is made up of researchers from various
CNR departments, in order to achieve specific research in the field of
Bioinformatics.
Recent results from sequencing projects of the
genome of different species have laid the foundations for the study of
modern industrial applications derived from genomics and proteomics. In
this contest, the CNR-Bioinformatics project will support research in
public health, in Universities, in public sector research and
industries, for the development of new strategies for the analysis of
genetic data in the biomedical and biotechnological fields.
The
aim of the Bioinformatics project is to establish a network of specific
skills within CNR departments able to adequately respond to
bioinformatics needs generated by CNR's projects and to constitute a
pool of expertise to better participate in national and international
projects.
This project will support the development of new
approaches to analysis and management of genomic and proteomic data in
biomedical, biotechnological, agro-industrial molecular design fields.
This project aims to conduct coordinated research activities, aid
technological transfer and to run training programmes, all of which
will contribute to the development of new and advanced bioinformatics
tools that will be made available to the entire national and
international scientific community.
In particular, activities
will be carried out to develop new bioinformatics methodologies that
will find immediate application in projects of national interest in the
emerging areas of System Biology, in the study of complex systems, of
information technology and Grid computing applied to biology and
medicine.
