Databases and Data Mining


There will be developed specific programs for the analysis of the enormous amount of data deriving from genomics studies. This platform will adopt new methodologies based on Data Mining for the research of scientific information in biomedical and biotechnological literature.

New methodologies of Warehousing Data and Data Mining for the analysis of heterogeneous medical data will be developed. A formal modelling of the dynamic behaviour of biological systems will also be proposed. Both aspects will be based on ontological opportunities of biomedical systems based on international standards.

Proposals will also be analysis of emerging property systems in expressions/graphs for modelling/emulation of biological processes. Microarray's data will be analyzed with different and innovative statistics techniques for the division of the main components, with the aim of studing DNA's functional characteristics, with applications in pharmacy, in the study of tumours and in the identification of genics regulation networks.

Even in this sector different CNR's Departments actively participate in European projects (ex. ORIEL, E-BIOSCI, DILIGENT, INTAS).
