GRID Applications and High Performance Computing

In this area is considered essential to develop and rationalise the network link between the main calculating resources for Bioinformatics applications inside the CNR. Thus will be possible to use in a safe manner the main programs developed from the Interdepartmental Bioinformatics project, allowing the use of it by other national, European and international scientific realities. It will be possible to log the programs and specialist databases, in continuous update, with only a single registration.

It will also be developed a platform for the advanced calculation finalized to the conducting research at high computational cost based on Grid's Computing. In this sector ICT Department researchers, Molecular Design and Life Science boast on a significant experience, forced by the qualified participation to different European projects (ex. BioinfoGRID, EGEE, SYMBIOMATICS, EMBRACE, EMBNET, only a few with direct CNR participation).
